The group that included gender activists and women political party representatives, made the observation at a forum, under the theme: śPeaceful elections: role of womenť at Bolgatanga.
The event that was sponsored by IBIS Ghana, was aimed at trumpeting free, fair and violent-free elections on December 7.
Madam Agnes Atayila, Assembly Women for Soe Electoral Area, in a communiquĂ© she read on behalf of the group at the end of the meeting, called on women to influence their male counterparts to avoid acts that could affect peaceful contact of elections.
It appealed to political party leaders to support the electoral process and asked the authorities to adequately resource security agencies to ensure law and order during the elections.
The communiquĂ© appealed to the media and religious organisations to also work towards successful polls.
It called for respect for human rights, especially the rights of women and children.
