Accra, Mar. 12, GNA - An Accra Circuit court on Tuesday remanded Mawuli Dzikum, a driver’s mate for allegedly robbing two students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
Mawuli pleaded not guilty to the charges, would reappear on Tuesday, March 26 for the court to rule on a bail application.
The lawyer for the accused had prayed for bail for his client but the Prosecution objected to it, saying the accused had earlier told Police that he has no fixed place of abode.
The Prosecution led by Inspector Samuel Ahiabor had earlier told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh, that the complainants in the case were students who reside at Dumelo Hostel located in Madina.
He said on September 15, 2018 at about 0100 hours the complainants were in their hostel watching a movie, when the accused person armed with a long screw driver, forcibly entered their room and threatened to harm them if they raise an alarm.
The Prosecution said the accused succeeded in robbing them of their two laptop computers, three mobile phones, and GH¢29.00.
He said the accused also transferred an amount of GH¢170.00 from one of the complainant’s mobile money into his account in her presence.
Inspector Ahiabor said after the crime the accused person locked them up in their washroom and bolted.
The Prosecution said preliminary investigations conducted at the MTN Office revealed that the accused person really did transferred the said money into his mobile wallet.
He said further investigation led to the arrest of the accused, who was later identified by the complainants as the one who robbed them on that fateful day.
