Shama (WR), May 17, GNA, - Mr Joseph Amoah, District Chief Executive for the Shama district on Thursday inaugurated a new kindergarten block for the Shama Catholic school.
The school block solely funded by the district has three classrooms, a staff common room, washrooms and toilets.
Mr Amoah underscored the importance of education, stressing that, it was the foundation for the development of every country.
He said the assembly considered education as an essential part of development and has therefore made it a priority.
The DCE said the assembly has renovated the Essaman and Assorkor schools while that of Aboadze and Inchaban were ongoing.
Mr Amoah said the renovated schools would enable school children to have access to quality education and also help to improve teaching and learning.
He said the assembly had provided about 1,300 dual desk to various schools in the district, adding that, government was doing its best to improve education and called on stakeholders to as a matter of urgency help to achieve this.
Mrs Efua Amoakoah Quansah, the district Director of Education said education brings a lot of benefits for the development of a country and must not be taken for granted.
She mentioned inadequate infrastructure to facilitate teaching and learning as a major challenge in the educational sector.
Mrs Quansah pleaded with the beneficiary school to take good care of the new school block to ensure that its life span.
Mr. Joseph Isaiah Mensah assembly member for Etsifi electoral area, in a welcoming address, commended government for completing the project on schedule.
He said the new school block would go a long way to improve upon teaching and learning and also ensure that the pupils stayed in school.
Mr Lawrence Oscar Gaisie, headmaster of the school thanked the assembly for the new school block, which he said would help reduce congestion in many of the classrooms and pledged that everything would be done to maintain it.
Mr Gaisie said the school lacked infrastructure and appealed to philanthropists, cooperate bodies, churches and individuals to help the school yo realise its dreams.
