Accra, Sep. 12, GNA - Simon Yartey from Accra clocked 45 minutes 21 seconds to win this year’s Osu Homowo Festival Marathon held in Accra over the weekend.
The competition, which climaxed the activities marking this year’s celebration of the Osu Homowo, saw Jonas Ayamga placing second, with the third position going to William Akuka.
Precious Nyagba came first in the Ladies category with Regina Amoeni and Grace Kombetto, placing second and third respectively.
In another Marathon race reserved for only Osu indigenes, Derrick Nii Nortey Dowuona came first, Seth Tetteh took the second position whiles Randy Addae placed third in the keenly contested event.
In the Under-14 category, Joseph Hammond came first, with Daniel Owoo and Simon Frempong placing second and third respectively.
For their prizes, the champions received a Plasma Television set, whilst the second and the third placed athletes received microwaves and gas cookers respectively.
The competition, which was sponsored by PZ Ghana Limited, in collaboration with the Osu Traditional Council, attracted over 300 participants.
Mr Kotey Nii Quaye, a member of the Organizing Committee, commended the sponsors and called on other corporate bodies to emulate the shining example of the sponsors.
