Accra, Feb. 5, GNA – The third day of the Accra Turf Club (ATC) horseracing, will come off on Saturday, February 9, at the new race course at Borteyman, near Ashiaman.
Four races would be run among all the divisions with some thrilling and exciting pairings of horses.
The first race, dubbed; “Abaaneke Stake” would see a combined division of 4B/4C horses over a distance of 1,400 metres with 11 horses competing while in the second race 3B/4A christened; “Ahanta” would see 10 crack horses covering a distance of 1,200 metres of the six furlongs.
The Novies Division race, which comprised of local breed horses would cover 1,200 metres distance of the six furlongs and the division 2A/2B of the last race of the day with 16 horses would go a distance of 1,600 of the eight furlongs.
Mr Samuel Nii Armah Turkson, the Secretary of the Board of Stewards, who announced the pairings told the GNA Sports, that the fourth race meeting would be climaxed under the distinguished patronage of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He called for support from all stakeholders to come on board to whip up interest in horseracing for the sport to reclaim its former glory.
The following were the last Saturday’s horseracing results.
The “Secret Lady” emerged winner in the first race of Division 3B/4A, while “Lean on Me” and “Sweet Morinus” came second and third respectively.
The Novies race was won by “Super”, followed by “Kastania” and “Jupiter” respectively. “Mr K” came first in the third race of the day, while “Who is Free” and “Sandal” took the second and third place respectively.
The last race saw “African Queen” emerging winner; “Wonder Boy” and “Electricity” came second and third.
