Accra, Oct. 6, GNA - The National Under-17 team, the Black Starlets,
recorded a lone goal victory over Columbia, in their opening game of the
Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Under -17 World Cup in
India, on Friday.
The Starlets, had a tough competition from their South American opponents, but managed to squeeze one past them to keep their dreams of advancing to the next stage of the competition and ultimately winning the trophy, a reality.
Sadiq Ibrahim scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute, after which they were unable to increase the tally till the close of the game.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s introduction of Isaac Gyamfi for Mohamed Iddrisu and Gabriel Laveh for Aminu Mohamed was not enough to give the team additional goals.
Ghana would play the United States of America (USA) on Monday, October 9.
