Accra, Dec. 3, GNA - Neogenics Education Group, an International Education Consultancy and Training Service provider on Friday held its maiden sport day programme for Teachers in the Accra Municipality at the El-Wak Stadium.
About 200 participants from ten schools in Accra took part in the fun filled day for teachers, school staff and families to network with classroom practitioners.
The event dubbed "Teachers Day Out" was also designed to kick out stress and offer an opportunity for Heads of Schools to give school staff a treat.
The Director and Lead Consultant of Neogenics Education Group, Grant Bulmuo said the Sports day programme was also to unite teachers.
The teachers engaged in sporting disciplines such as athletics, volleyball, tug of war, basketball, table tennis, football gala and other interesting games.
Before the competitive games started, the participants went through series of aerobics to prepare for the events.
The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS), Pius Hadzide commended the organisers and urged them to collaborate with the MOYS to attract more schools to the event in the future.
“it is a beautiful concept that needs to be endorsed and I'm looking forward to making it bigger in future," he said.
The Minister said it was important to have fun after classroom work, adding that, the programme was a good concept for teachers.
“it is also important that we distress after a hard day's work and I'm happy we are here.
"Exercise should be a way of life and should be imbibed in us. I'll recommend this to the Minister so we collaborate and make it bigger," he noted.
Dolly Memorial School at Labone emerged as the best school of the day.
For their efforts, they were presented with a trophy and medals.
