GNA - Mr. Michael Ako Bahun -Wilson, president of the Ghana Rugby Union Players
Association (GRUPA) and skipper of the Ghana Rugby Team, the Eagles, has
commended the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), for nominating the
sport, as one of the disciplines to be honoured at the 44th SWAG Awards Night,
fixed for Saturday, May 11, 2019.
Speaking in an interview with the GNA Sports, he said the recognition by SWAG, was as a result of the continuous coverage by the media, adding that Rugby was growing at a fast rate.
According to Wilson, the players of the Eagles and executives were highly inspired by the nomination by SWAG.
He said, Ghana was the Bronze Cup holder and they were going to improve on that by moving to the Silver Cup and Gold Cup in Africa, as the ultimate.
Mr. Ako Bahum, noted that though some nations like South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe were good, they (the Eagles of Ghana) were ready to take up the challenge and overtake them.
Known as “Angel Michael” Mr. Ako Bahum, also expressed appreciation to Mr. Herbert Mensah, the President of Ghana Rugby, who has been providing them with the necessary support to meet their targets.
