Kumasi, March 20, GNA - The National Circles Council (NCC) of Asante Kotoko S/C, has held its annual delegates’ congress in Kumasi, with a call to supporters to actively get involved in the agenda to restore the club to its once fearsome form.
Mr. Kwaku Amponsah, the National Chairman, said the Circles Council had been the backbone of the club’s successes over the years - mobilizing both material and spiritual support to advance their cause.
“At this crucial time when we are finding it difficult to rediscover our form, the expectation is that we overcome petty squabbles and lukewarm attitude towards the club’s activities and our all”, he told the GNA Sports, Kumasi.
Mr. Amponsah advised all splinter supporter groups, past board and management members to bury their differences and come on board as the club sought to make things better.
The meeting discussed ways of ensuring vibrant leadership for the supporters, revenue generation, players’ welfare and modalities for choosing new executives, slated for the latter part of this year.
Mr. Amponsah said it was not true that the current NCC leadership did not have good working relations with management of the team, explaining that those media reports had no basis.
While urging the players to show commitment towards the cause of the club, the NCC Chairman appealed to the management to consider involving the supporter group in their recruitment exercises.
“We need the contributions of all and sundry when recruiting players for the club”, he noted, saying this had been the norm over the years in helping to identify the best of players for the Porcupine Warriors.
