He told GNA Sport that úThe call for a technical director is needless. It is an attempt to down play the efforts of coach Appiah after successfully guiding the team to this stage of the competitionĚ.
According to coach Sunday, those making the suggestions are detractors of the coach, who do not want to give him the due credit for almost qualifying the Black Stars to the World Cup.
Sunday, however proposed the formation of a technical committee made of experienced and renowned coaches to assist the head coach at the World Cup.
úThese coaches should be given the task of monitoring opponents of the Black Stars and report back to the head coach for the necessary action.
úThis will also afford the coaches the opportunity to learn at the competition and contribute to the development of football in GhanaĚ, he stated.
He said Germany, had always participated in the World Cup with a minimum of 15 coaches apart from the head coach and this had contributed to their success at the competition.
úI think this is what we should do instead of appointing an individual possibly a white man with huge cost to assist the coach,Ě he added.
He called on coach Appiah to remain focused and prepare the team well for the second leg game in Cairo, Egypt on November 19.
