Nigeria, returned a gross score of 147, to win the Eighth Ghana Ladies Open
Golf Championship, which ended at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra, on Monday.
She was followed by Ndei Wacukab also of Nigeria with 152 gross, while Ruth Kae of Kenya placed third.
In the Division ‘B’ reserved for Handicap 21-36 players, Muteri Kamoka of Kenya, came first with 141 gross, Emelia Fight of Ghana, took the second position with 147 gross, while Amimo Anabwani of Kenya placed third with 150 gross.
Malenda Awuni of Uganda, won the Handicap 0-12 event with 151 gross, as Danielle Mbeka of Zimbabwe, came second with 1251 net, while Josphine Aillen of Kenya took the third position with 141 gross.
The two-day event opened to lady golfers in Ghana and other countries affiliated to the Royal and Ancient Golf, the World’s Golf governing body, was sponsored by Enterprise Group with support from CAL Bank Limited, Everpure Mineral Water, AEL Mining Company, Zenith Bank Ghana Limited and Tullow Oil.
Mrs Esther Amdzro, President of the Ghana Ladies Golf Union (GLGU), commended the participants for their sportsmanship exhibited throughout the game.
She said, the union would do everything possible to ensure that, the game was developed into international standards.GNA
