Accra, June 14, GNA - Electronic giants, Binatone - the title sponsor of the National Skate soccer (Rolling Rockets) team on Thursday donated food items to the team to mark the celebration of the Eid-al-Fitr in a short presentation ceremony at Abossey Okai in Accra.
The items which included rice, oil, meat and tomato paste were given to each member of the team to break their one month fasting and prayers.
The Managing Director of Binatone Ghana, Venu Babu, said the outfit’s gesture was to encourage the team, most of whom were Muslims after their successful observation of the Ramadan to celebrate the festive with the family.
He further noted that his outfit was keen on taking the sports to a different level so as to prevent the under-privileged disabled athletes from begging on the street.
“These are tokens from us to you and we believe it would help you mark and celebrate the end of Ramadan with your family. My outfit would do everything possible to develop skate soccer in the country as we have been doing already,” Mr Babu said.
Ghana would be hosting Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, and Niger in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in September this year and the Mr. Babu was optimistic Ghana would lift the trophy.
The president of the International Federation of Skate Soccer (IFSS), Albert Frimpong thank the Binatone Group for their immense support to the sport for the past few years the company decided to help promote the discipline in the country and also asked the players to pray for the federation as they celebrate the festive.
He added that, he is working assiduously to get more corporate entities on board as Ghana hosts the AFCON.
The team expressed gratitude to Binatone for their kind gesture and immeasurable support, saying it would help motivate them to remain active and give off their best in the AFCON tourney.
