Bongo (U/E), Nov 30, GNA - World Vision (WV) Ghana on Thursday installed Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre for the Zion International School.
ICT is an examinable subject at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) yet many basic schools in the Upper East Region lack ICT centres.
Inaugurating the centre at Bongo, the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator of World Vision Ghana , Mr Richard Okai, said child education and health were among the cardinal principles of WV Ghana and that was why it had over the years been introducing interventions at complementing government™s efforts at addressing those sectors particularly in the deprived schools.
He said since 1996 when WV Ghana entered the Bongo District it had made a great impact and had supported women™s groups in the area to undertake viable ventures such sheanut processing which they are exporting.
The Proprietor of the School, Mr Edmond Asigre commended WV Ghana and WV Switzerland for the support.
The Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Naba Baba Salifu Aleemyarum, appealed to parents to take keen interest in their children™s education by investing in them.
