Sunyani, March 7, GNA - The Kenyasi Police is investigating a case in which a 33-year old woman was reported dead in her boyfriend’s room at Hwediem in the Asutifi South District of the Brong-Ahafo Region.
Briefing The Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Police Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said on Monday, March 5, at about 0745 hours, one Opoku Kwarteng, a 46 year-old painter, went to the Kenyasi Police Station in the company of his senior brother, David Konto, to report that his girl-friend had died on his bed.
He said Kwarteng, a suspect in the case, told the Police that his girlfriend, Faustina Serwaa, aged 33, who came from Bekwai in the Ashanti Region to visit him had died on his bed.
Chief Inspector Oppong said the victim had complained of severe internal pains at about 0100 hours that day and died shortly in the process of being prepared to be sent to the hospital.
He said the Police followed the suspect to the scene but found no marks of assault on the deceased’s body upon inspection, adding that the body had been deposited at the Hwediem St .Elizabeth’s Catholic Hospital morgue, pending autopsy.
Chief Inspector Oppong said Kwarteng was assisting the Police in investigations whilst efforts were being made to locate the family of the deceased for further action.
