Accra, June 29, GNA - Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has led a government delegation to console the wife and family of Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, Ghana’s sixth Vice President, who died on Friday morning.
Other members of the delegation were Mrs Akosua Frema Osei Opare, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Dominic Nitiwul and Ms Gloria Akuffo, Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
Mr Amissah-Arthur, reportedly collapsed while exercising at the Air Force Mess Gymnasium, in Accra, and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia and the government officials signed a book of condolence opened in memory of the late Amissah-Arthur.
He had in an earlier tweet expressed shock and sadness at the sudden death of the former Vice President.
He tweeted: "I received with shock and sadness the sudden death of my predecessor, His Excellency Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, former Vice President of the Republic.”
