The Fund is to support them in the areas of Education, medical needs, provision of assistive devices, and the Organisation of PWD’s and Administration.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs. Emelia Ankomah, announced this at the President’s Easter Party, organised for persons with Disability at Dunkwa-On-Offin in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
She said over the same period the Assembly with the support of the Government, disbursed GH¢ 5,325.00 to the Ghana Society for the Physically Disabled, GH¢ 4,200.00 to the National Association for the Deaf and GH¢ 200.00 to the Ghana Blind Union.

He is now a second-year social work student at the University of Ghana, Legon, she said.
She said the Government attached much importance to issues relating to PWD’s, hence the setting up of the National Council on Disability to exercise oversight responsibility on matters relating to the disabled.
Mrs. Ankomah said the Government was considering increasing the allocation from the current two percent to three percent to facilitate the minimisation of poverty among PWDs, especially those outside the formal sector of employment to enhance their social image.
She expressed the Government's commitment to put in place more social interventions to create more opportunities to enable PWDs to live happily and comfortably.
More than 500 Persons with Disability drawn from Dunkwa and its surrounding communities were feted and presented with full pieces of wax-prints and other clothing.
