Asankragwa (W/R), Dec. 4, GNA - Two young men died on the spot in a road crash at Asankragwa in the Amenfi West District of the Western Region, when the taxi on which they were travelling crashed into a tipper truck.
Yaw Gana, 22, was the only person who survived in the accident and is in a critical condition and receiving treatment at the Asankragwa Catholic hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Simon Acquah, 22, and Seidu Yakubu, 19.
Acquah's body has been deposited at the Enchi Government Hospital's morgue pending autopsy, while Seidu's remains has been examined and handed over to the family for burial because he is a Muslim.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Atta Safo, the Divisional Operations and Motor Traffic and Transport Department Commander of Asankragwa Division, confirmed the accident to the Ghana News Agency.
He said Acquah, Yakubu and Gana, who were car wash attendants at Sephem filling station in Asankragwa, hail from Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region.
ASP Safo said on December 3, in the afternoon, a driver brought his Kia Rio taxi with registration number AS 4966-18 for washing at the washing bay where the deceased and Gana worked.
He said Acquah then went for the vehicle and his two colleagues Yakubu and Gana also joined him and they went to Amoaman, a community along the Asankragwa Enchi road.
While returning, the MTTD commander said, Acquah run the taxi into a stationary tipper truck on the outskirts of Asankragwa.
