Takoradi, Nov. 8, GNA - The Ridgeway Hotel operating in the Chapel Hill area of the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis has been closed by the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The Western Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority, which carried out the action, said the hotel had failed to observe rules and regulations pertaining to hospitality management.
Mr George Nkrumah Ansere, Regional Director said the hotel failed to meet standards, have not kept a ledger book for history of its clients, among others offenses.
The ledger book according to him help in tracking background of people particularly foreigners who use the facility to do business or maybe lodge illegally aside providing pertinent information in the event of any unfortunate incident.
On 3rd November 2018, one Ms Edafe Ovoke Vera now deceased, lodged at the Ridgeway Hotel in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis in the morning, but was later attacked by an alleged boyfriend who inflicted multiple knife wounds on her before fleeing.
The incident was later reported by a Bar attendant to the Central Police and upon a follow up by the police, the body of the young woman was discovered in the hotel washroom with blood oozing from the cuts on her throats, stomach and the left thigh.
The body had since been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital for autopsy and further investigation.
