Adenta, Dec. 5, GNA — President Nana Addo
Dankwa Akufo-Addo Wednesday inspected the progress of work on the six
Adenta/Madina highway foot bridges.
Work resumed on the footbridges after a number of pedestrians were knocked down on the Madina/Adenta road, which led to a series of demonstrations by residents demanding the completion of the footbridges that had been left uncompleted when the road was constructed.
The President, who is on a three-day tour of the Greater Accra Region, was assured by the contractors working on the project that work on the footbridges would be completed by April 2018.
One of the contractors working on one of the six footbridges, Mr Justice Amoh, of Justmoh Constructions said they do not envisage hitches in the work, and hope to complete the project ahead of time.
Deputy Director of Urban Roads, Mr Kwasi Nuamah, also told the President that the six footbridges were awarded to separate contractors to ensure early completion.
He said the necessary safety measures had been incorporated into the construction of the footbridges to make them pedestrian friendly.
President Akufo-Addo, after being apprised on the state of the project, said he looked forward to the timely completion of the footbridges.
The President later commissioned the new ultra-modern office complex of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly at Kinbu, Accra.
