Accra, Dec. 31, GNA - The MTN Ghana
Foundation, has partnered FreelunchGH to provide educational tools and
nutritious food for children in Korle Gonno Community Library in Korle Gonno,
Adabraka, in Accra and Annoff in Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
At the launch of the MTN Ghana FreeLunchGH initiative, the Executive Secretary of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Robert Kuzoe said: “Christmas is all about sharing and the MTN Foundation is happy to part of this unique celebration.”
He said: “Our support is also in line with MTN’s Season of Surprises promotion currently being run across the country.”
The MTN Season of Surprises is to connect to customers by giving away thousands of gifts in December.
The Free Lunch initiative was started on December 19 and ended on December 22.
The celebration was also held in three communities.
The programme allowed children to learn and have fun.
They were also tasked to show their understanding of the importance of education in Ghana through a staged talk show.
During the programme the children also exhibited their spelling skills as they were clustered to compete against each other in a “Spelling Bee” competition.
MTN Foundation gave out souvenirs to encourage them to keep up the impressive work.
The children who were more than a 1000 were treated to food and music.
FreelunchGH is a non-governmental organisation focused on nourishing both the bodies and minds of children in need of support.
The organisation executes weekly educational projects through partnerships with enlightening institutions such as libraries where they do not only provide lunch for children but also read and share knowledge to build the mind and character.
The Foundation also sponsored two other Christmas parties for children and donated medical equipment valued at GH¢129,500 to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
