Teberebie (W/R), June 13, GNA - One person died on the spot when a Toyota Pick-up knocked down three people on a motorbike at Teberebie Junction on the Tarkwa-Takoradi road.
Two other pillion riders, Daniel Abugiri, 9 year-old and Martin Opari,16 year-old sustained injuries.
The Toyota Pick-up was travelling from Tarkwa whiles the Haojin motorbike was moving from the opposite direction when the crash occurred at 1830 hours.
Superintendent of Police Madam Victoria Yamoah, the Tarkwa Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, who confirmed the accident to the Ghana News Agency, said the deceased Emmanuel Quaicoo, 28, hails from Dompim in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality.
She said the body has been deposited at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital morgue for autopsy.
She said helpful witnesses rushed the injured to the same hospital for treatment.
Superintendent Yamoah said after the crash the suspect driver, Ransford Oduro sped off and abandoned the Toyota Pick-up at ABA junction in Tarkwa.
Superintendent Yamoah said her office upon intelligence went and towed the vehicle to the Tarkwa police station, whiles Oduro on the following day, reported to the station and was detained for questioning.
