Accra, Nov. 08, GNA - Three companies, on Wednesday, presented various items and cash totaling GHȼ220,000.00 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, to support the celebration of the 33rd National Farmers Day Celebration (NFD), scheduled for Friday, December 1.
They are the National Investment Bank (NIB), the Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) and the Ganorma Agro Chemicals (GAC).
The NIB donated GHȼ30,000.00 to motivate farmers to continue the good work they were doing to sustain the nation.
Mr Charles Wordey, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the Bank, who made presentation to the Ministry, said the Bank saw the need to support the NFD because of the immense contributions farmers made towards the growth of the economy.
The ABL donated various beverages valued at GHȼ165,000.00 to refresh the award winners and other participants.
Mr Richard Kwame Eghan, the Head of Technical Department at Company, said it had also donated two solar-powered furrow irrigation systems and boreholes to two communities in the Upper East Region.
GAC donated 100 Knapsack Sprayers valued at GHȼ5,000.00.
Mr Abdulai Fuseini, the Operations Manager at the Company, said it was donating the items to support the Government’s initiative of Planting for Food and Jobs.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, Dr Sagre Bambangi, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, in charge of Annual Crops, said the Ministry was grateful for the benevolence of the companies.
This is because it would help to appreciate the hardworking farmers across the country.
Dr Bambangi said the donations would be put to effective use, urging more entities to send their contributions to reward the farmers.
The theme for the Celebration is: “Farming for Food and Jobs. It was launched on August 16 with the announcement of the sponsorship packages for corporate institutions to support the event.
The sponsorship packages, which starts with the bronze sponsor, involve donations of GHȼ10,000.00 and below, while such sponsors would get acknowledgement in the media, special certificates of sponsorship at the Sponsors Awards Night as well as a photo opportunity for the presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture and for the media.
Silver sponsors, involve donations valued at GHȼ10,000.00 to GHȼ30,000.00. These sponsors would also get acknowledgement in the media; advertise their companies’ logos on the sponsors’ billboard at the durbar grounds for telecast, special certificates of sponsorship at the Sponsors’ Awards Night and a photo opportunity for presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture in the media.
The Gold Sponsor category starts from GHȼ30,000.00 to GHȼ50,000.00. In addition to the afore mentioned benefits; they would advertise their companies’ logos in the event brochure in a half-page colour print with felicitation messages to the farmers and fishermen.
Platinum sponsors involve GHȼ50,000.00 and above.
The donors would also get acknowledgement in the media, advertise their companies’ logos on the sponsors’ billboard at the durbar for telecast, receive plaques and special certificates of sponsorship at the Sponsors Awards Night and all the other benefits from the previous categories.
