Kwasi Komfo (E/R), July 10, GNA – The
Municipal Assembly School at Kwasi Komfo in the East Akim Municipality, wants a
new site to avert ‘market-noise making’ which does not promote teaching and
Mr Gawi Mawuko, a teacher of the school, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kwasi Komfo in the Eastern Region, that the small farming community had grown and therefore, extended to reach the school premises.
He said the school had been surrounded by a market and a public football field which created noise, and interrupted teaching and learning.
Mr Mawuko said the football field had been extended to the corridors of the classrooms, adding, if the situation was not checked, there was no way the falling standards of education in the area could be improved.
He noted that the school which had a JHS, primary and kindergarten with a total population of 206, is presently in the centre of the town and that there was the need to be relocated to a new site, to help enhance teaching and learning.
Mr Mawuko said the school block which was built years back had not seen any serious rehabilitation and that a new block could help to provide a congenial atmosphere for teaching and learning.
The teacher therefore, appealed to the Odikro (chief) of KwasiKomfo, landowners and the PTA of the school, to as a matter of urgency, release lands for the authorities of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the municipal assembly to help build modern block for the school.
