Kumasi April 30, GNA “ The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, has embarked on a special exercise to remove all posters and illegal outdoor advertisement materials in the metropolis.
Banners and flags are being taken down from buildings, bus terminals and electricity poles as well as billboards erected without the permission of the assembly.
The exercise commenced on Monday and was limited to Asafo-Labour, Amakom Traffic Light and Afful-Nkwanta on the main Accra road.
Mr Godwin Okumah Nyame, Public Relations Officer of the assembly, told the Ghana News Agency that this would be extended to all parts of the city.
He said this is part of measures to restore sanity in the metropolis.
Mr Okumah warned of the arrest and prosecution of people who paste posters and other advertisement materials without permit or license from the assembly.
He asked all advertising agencies to dismantle their dilapidated billboards on their own.
