Ho, Nov. 08, GNA - The Ho Municipal Assembly (HMA) is to embark on an aggressive beautification project to give the Municipality a facelift.
The project is expected to transform the Municipality into a number one destination for holidaymakers and tourists.
Mr Nelson Akorli, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), at a Town Hall meeting organized by the Information Services Department (ISD), said the Municipality was fast emerging as a tourist destination due its warm hospitality, beautiful and serene environment, festivals, arts and culture.
He said the Assembly was therefore taking advantage of the above to give a ‘new face’ to the Volta Regional capital and grow the local economy.
Mr Akorli said the Assembly would soon clear buildings along water ways and demolish unauthorised and improperly cited structures to make way for ornamental and fruit trees at designated areas.
He said the aim was to create an enabling environment of leisure for tourists and make Ho live to its billing of the new “oxygen city of Ghana", and lauded government for its intervention policies.
Mr Stephen Adzah, Volta Regional Information Officer, noted that the Town Hall Meetings were innovative ways of bringing government and duty bearers closer to the people.
He said the meetings help to explain government policies to the people and feedback from the people to government.
