The presentation, sponsored by Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication rewarded the winners for exhibiting excellence in their line of duties and to boost the tourism and hospitality industry.
The companies include Viglosam Lodge, Wenchi, for being 1-Star, Acacia Guest Lodge, Accra, the Guest house of the year, Washington View Hotel, Ashanti Region for being the Budget accommodation establishment of the year and Catters Hostel, Accra, the hostel of the year.
Others include Moti Mahal, Kumasi for being the Restaurant of the year (International), Azmera Restaurant for being the Restaurant of the year (Ghanaian), Yoks Car Rentals, Accra for being the Car renting agency of the year and Sunseekers Tour, Accra for being the tour operators of the year.
Mr Charles Osei Bonsu, Acting Chief Executive Officer, GTA congratulated the award winners for their excellent performance over the years geared towards improving the tourism and hospitality industry.
He expressed appreciation to the sponsors of the awards, saying their efforts would be forever recognised by the authority and encouraged the winners to work hard in order to maintain the awards.
Mr David Nutsugah, Sales and Customer Care Manager, Sunseekers Tour on behalf of the winners expressed appreciation to the authority for recognising their efforts over the years.
He said it is the third time running, his company is winning the tour operators of the year award and expressed the hope that, the corporate entity would maintain the position, since professionalism, attention to details and specifics has been the hallmark.
He noted that the tourism industry had so much potentials but very little has been done to improve it, saying it is important for stakeholders to get involved to put measures in place to move the industry forward.
