Juaso (Ash), Dec. 4, GNA – The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has presented a cheque for GH¢ 2,000.00 to one of its member, Ms Rosina Nyarko, who was involved in a road crash last year on the Swedru-Winneba road.
Ms Nyarko, who teaches at the Presbyterian Primary School at Juaso in the Asante-Akim South Municipality, had earlier received GH¢ 500.00 from the local chapter of GNAT to cover her medical bills.
She lost one of her eyes and spent over two months on admission at the 37 Military Hospital following the accident.
Mr Osborn Agyenim Boateng, the Municipal Chairman of GNAT, who presented the cheque on behalf of the Association, said the welfare of members is paramount to GNAT.
He said GNAT has the track record of supporting members in times of difficulty and urged teachers especially newly trained ones to choose GNAT over other rival teacher bodies.
Teachers must endeavor to seek information on GNAT at its district, regional and national offices to enable them make informed choices, he advised.
Mr William Effah, the Municipal GNAT Secretary, said GNAT would continue to pursue innovative policies and initiatives that would improve the lives of members.
He urged teachers to patronize GNAT offices to seek redress, adding that, the secretariat was there purposely to serve the interest of teachers.
Ms Nyarko expressed her profound gratitude for the donation which she admitted would go a long way to aid her recovery.
