Wa, (UWR), June 12, GNA – Mr Albert Kofi Owusu, the General Manager of Ghana News Agency (GNA), has urged personnel of Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) deployed to the news agency to focus on building their capacity towards national development.
He said despite teething challenges regarding payment of their monthly stipends they should take their work very seriously and play their role in growing the Agency to effectively deliver on its mandate.
“Apply yourself to the task here, do your part, volunteer, do it and do it well, don’t wait to be told,” he said when he addressed staff of GNA in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa.
“Focus on your work and do your best to help the region and the nation,” he added.
Mr Owusu was in Wa with the GNA Chief Accountant Mr Kweku Adjei Larbi as part of his nationwide tour to familiarise himself with news operations in the regions.
He said the organisation was faced with several challenges including financial constraints largely due to inaction but added that the new management was working assiduously to surmount them.
Before interacting with the staff, Mr Owusu also paid a courtesy call on the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin-Salih and later visited the Upper West Regional Education Director Mr Duncan Nsoh to deepen relations with their institutions.
Mr Dasmani Laary, GNA Upper West Regional Manager, thanked the GM for visiting the region to acquaint himself with conditions of work in the region.
He expressed the hope that with the GM’s insightful vision, the Agency would be restructured and revamped to operate more effectively and efficiently to deliver on its mandate of enhancing nation building, unity and development.
He prayed God’s divine wisdom and energy for Mr Owusu to guide him to bring about his vision of repositioning the Agency into fruition.
The GM has since left Wa for Tamale, the Northern regional capital, and will proceed to Upper East Region where he is expected to wind up the nationwide tour in Bolgatanga.
