Accra, Nov 8, GNA - The 50th Anniversary of the Calvary Baptist Church (CBC), has been launched with qualitative discipleship on the citizenry in the education and market sector, being a priority for the Church to address.
This campaign would be used to educate the public in these sectors to say no to corruption, eschew bad habits among leaders and the citizenry in general and project standards from sub-standards in the Christendom.
“Yes, we will focus on quantity as well as quality,” Reverend Dr Fred Deegbe, the Senior Pastor of CBC, stated in Accra at the Press launch on Wednesday.
He, therefore, urged the media to work together with stakeholders to eschew corruption in the country.
Speaking at the launch, Rev George Solomon Mallet, the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the golden jubilee celebration, said the celebration was a critical year in the life of the Church.
“We are 50 years and God has been gracious to us, with that grace we will move on and continue to impact lives,” he said.
Rev Mallet noted that the anniversary which would be on the theme: “God in Action, Then, Now and the Future” would be celebrated throughout next year.
“However, there will be some activities in December this year. On December 23 and 24 we will have the Living Christmas Tree programme, whiles the Teens musical programme dubbed: “Shout” is scheduled for December 26,” he said.
Rev Mallet said from December 2 to 9 there would be the homecoming activity with the whole celebration expected to be climaxed on December 9.
He mentioned social activities such as health walk and a donation exercise to a hospital as some of the series of activities CBC would undertake next year.
Going forward, Rev Dr Deegbe mentioned rebranding, reaching out to the world, planting Churches, educating and training of disciples who would be fruitful and productive in the market place as some of the Church’s future plans.
Established in 1964, with branches in the various regions, the CBC has the vision of being a vibrant congregation that would impact the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
