Accra, Dec 31, GNA – Since Thursday; January 1, 2015 is New Year day many people are expected to travel to various destinations for the festivities.
However, a visit by the GNA on Wednesday to the Ho Lorry Station in Accra witnessed a calm atmosphere, though, it was busier than on usual days with passengers queuing to board vehicles to their various destinations for the festive season.
A Ghana Private Road Transport Union Official who spoke on anonymity told the GNA that it is a brisk business for the drivers as more passengers are travelling.
He however, appealed to the drivers to stay off from alcohol and to drive with caution in order to avoid accident.
Mr Mawuli Tsigah, a commuter said he came to Accra to shop for the festive season and was now on his way home to spend the New Year with his family.
Ms Beauty Atoklo, a teacher and also a commuter said due to the economic hardship, lots of people are not willing to travel home for the festivity.
