Accra, Jan. 31, GNA - A business group, Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association, on Monday donated relief items worth GH¢14,030 to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) towards the rehabilitation of victims of last June\'s floods.
The items included 100 bags of rice, 10 bags of sugar, 35 cartons of oil, 20 cartons of soap, 10 bundles of mats and seven bales of used clothing.
Mr. Samuel Amuzu, Ghana representative of the Association, said the group decided to make the donation because it was touched by the plight of flood victims.
He said it was time to educate the public on global warming and how best to take care of the environment, plant more trees and use renewable energy.
Mr Amuzu said one of the main causes of global warming was greenhouse gas emission and appealed to the public to be cautious of methane, which is linked to greenhouse and is produced by the livestock industry.
Receiving the items on behalf of the NADMO, the Deputy Coordinator, Mr P.K. Abornie, expressed gratitude to the Association and said the needy and affected communities would benefit from the donation.
Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association is a business group with worldwide interests in restaurants, fashion and jewellery design.
It is headed by Ching Hai, a spiritual leader, teacher, poet, painter, musician, self-published writer and entrepreneur. She is known for her philanthropic and humanitarian work.
The Association is affiliated with World Peace Media, Oceans of Love Entertainment, Supreme Master Television, and several cable television series, all groups and businesses established by Ching Hai.
The organisation runs a string of vegetarian restaurants around the world.
