Sunyani, Dec. 4, GNA - Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Godfred Owusu-Boateng, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander, has called on Police personnel to be tactical and strategic to clamp down on criminals in the upcoming Christmas festivities.
He urged them to be more pro-active to identify the strategies of criminals in this year’s Christmas celebration for citizens to conduct their businesses without panic or fear but in peace.
DCOP Owusu-Boateng said this at the opening of a two- week training programme organised by the Regional Police Command for 65 selected personnel in the region.
It is aimed at equipping them on basic human right laws, proper use of fire arms and the standard operational procedures for child-friendly policing.
He said during occasions of Christmas, criminals devise different strategies to rob the populace of their monies and properties.
DCOP Owusu- Boateng urged Police personnel to handle weapons tactically in crime combat and protect the citizenry but not to wreak havoc on innocent citizens.
On children, the Regional Commander said in spite of all the legislations to protect and promote their interest, they were still suffering from abuse and violence in the homes and school environments.
He expressed concern that the nation could not continue to neglect the children who constituted about 45 per cent of its people, saying this is dangerous because it could affect the availability and quality of the nation’s future human resource materials.
DCOP Owusu-Boateng urged the participants to advocate and promote children’s rights to build a better future for the country’s children.
