Takoradi, April 22, GNA - The Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Reverend Jean Marie Speich has commended Christians and Catholics in particular for their peaceful co-existence with other churches in the country.
He said in his five years stay in Ghana, he had not heard of any differences and troubles among the Christian community, which he noted was highly commendable.
Most reverend Speich said this at the Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Cathedral Church in Takoradi to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ more than 2000 years ago.
The Apostolic. Nuncio who is on transfer to Kosovo broke down in tears in his parting words to the congregation and asked that they should maintain the peace and unity that prevailed in the country and pray for him as he takes over his new post in Kosovo.
In a Homily, he said as Christians celebrate the newness in life with the resurrection of Christ, they should remember the sick, prisoners, refugees and those who are in war zones to enable them have the feel of the risen Lord.
The Apostolic nuncio who was full of praises for the congregation of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral, asked them not to close their hearts to the newness and transformation the resurrection of Jesus Christ had brought to their lives.
“Be confident, have faith in God for he is with you at all times, there is no sin or situation God cannot change or handle if only you open your hearts to him,” he added.
Most Reverend Speich said with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christians should endeavours to get closer to God, adding don't be afraid, trust in Him, and have confidence in Him, He is with you and will give you the strength and peace you have been yearning for. "
"Remember all the things God has done in your lives and believe that He would give you a share in the resurrection and the newness of life that would transform you.”
He prayed that God would help them to feel his presence and teach them not to look for the dead among the living.
The Cathedral was filled to capacity with many dressed in white clothes whilst various societies in the church, wore their uniforms to signify their joy in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Prayers were said for the diocese to have a visionary and good new Bishop assigned for the diocese. Prayers were also said for the development of Ghana.
