Tema, Sept. 9, GNA - Madam Fiona Asafu-Adjaye, Managing Partner, and Mr John David Merson, Partner, Adonten Chambers, have been appointed as Ghana country forum representatives for the African Bar Association (AFBA) commencing 5th July 2018.
The country representatives are expected to promote the activities of AFBA in Ghana for two years guided by AFBA’s philosophy which is to ensure the ‘Fearless voice of the legal profession.”
Mr. Hannibal Uwaifo of Nigeria, expressed his delight on the representation of AFBA through Adonten Chambers, one of Ghana oldest law firms which was founded in 1926 by the late Sir Edward Asafu-Adjaye.
The AFBA was established in 1971 by a group of progressively minded lawyers from a Federation of National Legal Associations.
AFBA, as a body continues to seek and bring together independent professional legal bodies as well as lawyers in their individual capacities from around the continent of Africa.
It aims at creating the platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences in a friendly and congenial atmosphere for the pursuit and achievement of diverse professional interest.
During the 2018 Annual Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, participants from Africa and beyond deliberated on the African Union’s aspirations to be achieved by 2063 which included charting a path towards the transformation of the continent into a strong resilient global player and partner.
The AFBA Ghana Forum is positioned to continue to blaze the trial in legal matters on the continent especially the pursuit of African Union aspirations of 2063.
