Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - The Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) on Thursday donated some beverage drinks to the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) towards the 22nd GJA Awards slated for December 20, in Accra.
The drinks are 40 cartons of Beta Malt, a non-alcoholic malt brand, 20 Club Premium Lager, 10 Club Shandy Bosoe, 10 Eagle Larger and five Castle Milk Stout.
Ms Joscelyne Ahiable, the Communications Manager of ABL, said the donation was to support the cause of Ghanaian Journalists as part of their investment in the growing world agenda, adding, the company could not truly fulfil its dream of bringing people together for a better world if people lacked fundamental human rights.
“We believe Ghanaian Journalists safeguard our rights. That is why we have been supporting them since 2008, through the GJA and the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists in cash and kind,” she said.
She said the donation formed part of the company’s concerted efforts to encourage and empower journalists in the performance of their roles as vanguards of social justice.
Madam Mary Mensah, Public Relations Officer of the GJA who received the donation, thanked the ABL for their continuous support to the Association, adding, “If my memory serves me right, this is the ninth year the ABL is supporting the Association”.
She called on other organisations to emulate the example of the ABL and support the GJA to achieve its goal in honouring the hard of work of journalists.
