Koforidua, Feb. 28, GNA - Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Eastern Regional Minister, has urged food venders to keep their surrounding in which they prepare and sell foods clean to prevent the spread of diseases.
He noted that diseases like typhoid and cholera were mostly caused by dirt and needed to be checked.
Dr Apea-Kubi was speaking at a clean-up exercise in Koforidua at the weekend to commemorate Ghana\'s 54th anniversary celebration.
He called on leaders in communities to help to revive the communal labour spirit, which helped in keeping the environment clean in the past.
He also urged individuals to contribute to the cleaning of their environment.
Dr Apea-Kubi observed that the Government spends so much money on sanitation, which could be used for developmental projects.
He thanked those who participated in the clean-up exercise and appealed to them to make it a regular activity.
