Nkoranza (B/A), GNA - Nana Agyeman Kudom IV, President of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, on Wednesday called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to perform its duties with credibility to avoid any electoral disputes in the December election.
He said political parties and polling agents should be vigilant and honest to avoid the creation of doubt during the declaration of results.
"Polling stations should not be turned into battle grounds to generate hostilities," he said at Nkoranza while welcoming to his palace Mr John Dramani Mahama, running mate of Professor John Atta Mills, National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer.
Mr Mahama is on a 10-day campaign tour of Brong Ahafo where he continues to receive rousing welcome wherever he went.
Nana Kudom, who is also the Omanhene of Nkoranza said: "If the EC and political parties played their role fairly and put the peace and security of the nation as their aim, Ghana would emerge more victorious in its multi-party democratization."
He said the election should not divide Ghana and that Ghanaians could not engage in any form of hostilities because we are all one people who had become so through education, farming, industrialisation and commercial activities.
Mr Mahama told the Chief that his call message on his campaign trip was peace and unity for all Ghanaians and that the election should be decided on issues but not brawn.
Mr Mahama's campaign team includes Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and Mr Emmanuel Owusu Agyeman, General Secretary and the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman respectively, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, former Member of Parliament of Bukpurugu and Mr Isaac Obuobi, North America Representative of NDC.
Addressing a rally at Nkoranza, Mr Mahama appealed to those who had attained 18 years to register when the voters' register opened at the end of this month.
He appealed to polling agents to be very vigilant to avoid any form of cheating.
