Driver arrested for possessing Indian hemp
March 11, 2010

Asamankese, March 11, GNA - The Asamankese Circuit Court will on April 14 give judgement in a case in which a driver, Joseph Nimo, is charged with having in his possession 13 wrappers of marijuana.

Nimo pleaded not guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri told the court that on May 07, 2007 members of a neighbourhood watch committee at Ohenedanho in Asamankese were on their usual night patrols when they spotted the accused smoking a substance they suspected to be Indian hemp.

She said on seeing the patrolmen, the accused took to his heels but was chased and arrested.

A search conducted on him at the local police station led to the recovery of a black polythene bag containing 13 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
