Accra, March 11, GNA-Sheikh Dr. Amin Bonsu, Deputy Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM) has called on the Muslim community to take the girl-child education very serious to ensure a better future for her.
He said education played a very important role in the socio-economic development of every aspect of life and that without education it would be very difficult for anybody to see progress.
Sheikh Bonsu, who is also the Chief Executive of the Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital and Acting Ashanti Regional Chairman of GMM, made the call in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday,
He appealed to people who hide behind Islam to engage in acts which tend to bring the name of the religion into disrepute to repent and desist from the acts.
"Why should you act as a Muslim and use the name of Islam to commit wrong-doing", Sheikh Bonsu asked adding, such behaviour must be put to rest.
He appealed to Muslims to join the GMM contribute towards enable it complete its University project and undertake more projects to improve on their living conditions.
The Deputy Imam also appealed to the youth to desist from making trouble and creating confusion at funerals.
He cited an example in Kumasi where a section of the youth at a funeral put pepper in fire which produced a harsh smoke on which people choked and coughed.
According to him, those who suffered as a result were branded as witches and wizards and were molested.
