Omanhene urges colleagues to stand up for what is right

Mampong (Ash), April 30, GNA The Omanhene of Asante-Mampong, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, has called on his colleague chiefs to stand up for what is right, just and fair at all times.

This, he said, is the only way they could continue to carry along their people and sustain their loyalty.

The Omanhene was speaking when the new Hiahene of the Asante-Mampong Traditional Area, Diasempa Antwi Obugyei II, swore the oath of allegiance to him at his Mampong Palace.

He succeeded the late Okofo Agyei Twum, who died about a year ago.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu said chiefs should lead the effort at bringing development to their communities and help to preserve the culture and valued traditions of the people.

He asked the new chief to hold himself with dignity and honour in order to help protect the image of the chieftaincy institution.

Diasempa Obugyei pledged loyalty to the Asante-Mampong Silver Stool and Asanteman (the Asante Kingdom).

He said he would work hard to promote peace and mobilise the people to fight poverty.

The Hiahene who is also the Krontihene of Ejura is known in private life as Seth Asiedu.
