New Takoradi, Sept 30, GNA - CHF International in collaboration with Community Land and Development Foundation (COLANDEF), on Saturday organised series of environmentally conscious activities to mark Green Apple Day in Ghana.
Green Apple Day, a day instituted by the Green Building Council in the United States of America of which Ghana is a member, is dedicated towards improving the learning environment of school children the world over.
Mr. Augustine Adams, Senior knowledge Management Officer of CHF International told the Ghana News Agency at New Takoradi Cluster of Schools that the day was used mainly to clean-up school compounds, painting, planting of tree, as well as educating pupils on proper use of latrines and hand washing methods.
This year, the group therefore undertook these above mentioned activities at the cluster of schools, which is an adopted school by them. A similar exercise was carried out at the Accra New Town Cluster of School.
Mr. Adams noted that it was high time Ghanaians adopted environmentally friendly approach in their day-to-day life adding, "It is always good to start with children when it comes to sustainable environment".
