NDC Ayawaso West Wagon Parliamentary Candidate Launches Campaign

Accra, Sept. 30, GNA - Mr Kwame Awuah Darko, National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspiring parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wagon, has signaled his readiness to win the seat with the launch of his campaign at Bawaleshie on Saturday in Accra.

He said the campaign launch was to boost the morale of the foot soldiers to commit themselves for a vigorous campaign ahead of Election 2012.

Mr Darko said he intends to embark on a vigorous campaign, with the sole aim of winning votes and ensuring that President John Dramani Mahama wins the presidential elections and gave a firm promise to embark on a clean campaign, premised on policy-driven messages.

He noted that the constituency over the years had not seen any development under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament, and that now is the time to have a change in leadership to hasten development.

Mr Darko urged all members of the party to come out in their numbers on December 7 and vote for the NDC to remain in power to help raise the living standards of the people.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development said the NDC Government was committed to making education accessible and affordable.

He said it was expanding educational infrastructure in all parts of the country and that the provision of free school uniforms, dual desk chairs, exercise books and affordable education was an example.

Mr Ampofo said teachers were also motivated by raising their salaries as well as the provision of responsibility allowances for heads of Senior High Schools.

Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and Campaign coordinator for President Mahama, said within the past three and half years, the NDC government had eradicated 1,700 schools under trees and that 1000 more would be eradicated next year when the party is reconfirmed to continue its Better Ghana Agenda, under President Mahama.

He said the youth in Ayawaso West Wagon need jobs and education to better their lives, saying that, the NDC and Mr Darko were the only combination to save the youth in the constituency.

Mr Ankrah said the NPP has nothing good to offer the people of Ghana and that President Mahama, who was trained by the late President Prof John Evans Atta Mills was capable of transforming Ghana’s economy.

Mr Ade-Coker, NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman, who launched the campaign, noted that the NDC was constructing roads in the township of East Legon, which was under the constituency and appealed to the electorates to vote massively for Mr Darko to develop the area.
