Two Canadian ladies reportedly kidnapped in Kumasi

Kumasi, June 6, GNA – The Ashanti Regional police Command says it has commenced investigations into the reported kidnapping of two Canadian ladies which occurred in Kumasi.

It has subsequently cautioned the media to be circumspect with their reportage in the delicate issue so that it does not mar the investigative process.

A statement copied to the GNA and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr David Eklu, Director General of Public Affairs said the two ladies (names withheld) were said to have been kidnapped by some unknown persons at the Kumasi Royal Club at Ahodwo, in Kumasi.

The incident happened on June 4, 2019, at about 20:25 hours, according to the statement.

The two victims aged 19 and 20 are volunteers working with a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) known as Youth Challenge International, based in Kumasi, the statement said.

The statement entreated members of the general public with information on the suspects and the victims to volunteer information to the police.
