Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development awards entrepreneurs

Accra, April 14, - Entrepreneurship and Small Scale Business Development at the weekend awarded distinguished entrepreneurs for their role in national development.

S and O Fashikn World emerged the Fashion Designer of the Year, the Hair Dresser of the Year went to Agaata Sakyi, Joseph Frimpong won the Shoe Manufacturer of the year while the Soup Manufacturer of the year went to Get  Pack.

Madam Comfort Oduro and Madam Elizabeth Tandoh won the Life Time Achievement of the Year, while Mr Joseph Ntow won the Shoe Manufacturer of the year.

The Fashion School of the Year award went to Ramina Wear Institute.

The awards is on the theme "Harnessing the Creativity and Innovation of Small Business".

 Mr Joshua Mensah, the Executive Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development said the awards was to empower young people especially the informal sector to bring out the best in them for the growth of the economy.

He said the Institute started as Foundation for Financial Inclusion and renamed to give opportunities to young enterprising entrepreneurs to grow and expand their business models.

Mr Mensah encouraged graduates, entrepreneur, and tertiary students especially to pass through the Institute to help shape their ideas to benefit society.

He said the awards focus on creativity and innovation of micro businesses as well as others enterprises.

Madam Gifty Volimkarima, the Ghana Country's Director Equips Hup, urged the youth to listened to elderly advice and be creative in identifying problems as opportunity to solve the challenge.

"Do not make innovation a side project in your business but rather make it a core in your business organisation by tapping into the creative power your business", she added.

Mr Christopher Kow Freiku, Chairman of the event said the major challenges faced the youth was how to train students to meet the needs of industry.

He stated that availability of a large tools of skill man power for industry was one of the major factors that would attract foreign investors, calling for the need to trained the youth to acquire entrepreneurial skills for the emerging market.
