Tema, March 15, GNA - Reverend Jonas Kwami Tengey, the Greater Accra Regional Pastor of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI), has advised parents to lead by example for their children to emulate.
He said children learnt by watching and copying what their parents did adding that they must be an example to their children in Bible reading, prayer, daily quiet time and in church attendance.
Rev. Tengey gave the advice in his homily during the GCCI Maranatha Assembly's 2019 Children's Week Celebration in Tema.
It was on the theme: “Teaching Children the Great Commission Identity For Spiritual Impact”.
Speaking on the sub-theme: "Raising Godly Children to Carry on The Great Commission," Rev Tengey urged Christian parents to disciple their children for Christ.
He said it was only when children were discipled for Christ that they would be in a position to propagate the gospel of Christ.
Quoting from the book of Proverbs in the Bible, Rev Tengey said: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
He urged parents to be mindful of the fact that as children become older, they become living mirrors of the behaviour they see at home.
He said children were gifts from God to parents, hence it was their responsibility to ensure that they were brought up in the fear of God.
