GNECC calls for support for roll-out of Double-Track System

Accra, Sep 7, GNA - The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) on Friday called for support to roll-out the Double-Track System.

A statement issued by Mr Bright Appiah, the Chairman, GNECC and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the Coalition had observed with concern, the reaction of various stakeholders, especially the media in the wake of the release of Senior High School (SHS) placements, as part of the roll-out of the double-track system.

The statement said "The design and consultative stages of the double-track policy was over and that all stakeholders with divergent opinions on the policy, including GNECC, need to get on board and support government at this critical roll out stageā€.

The statement said the success or failure of the policy does not only depend on government and civil society but parents, the media and every relevant stakeholder had a role to play in ensuring its success because it affects our children.

"Stakeholders, especially the media houses should encourage and assist parents and students by directing them to the various regional help desks set up by the Ghana Education Service to resolve any emerging issue related to the placement process," it said.

"Let us support the Ghana Education Service to implement the policy of the Government of Ghana," it said.

It said the GNECC would undertake a review at the end of the first semester.
