Effiduase (Ash), April 13, GNA – The Sekyere East District Assembly has elected a 40-year teacher, Emmanuel Adjei Baafi, as its new presiding member.
He was the only candidate to have filed his nomination for the position and 33 out of 35 members voted yes for him.
The election was supervised by District Electoral Officer, Mrs. Cynthia Frimpong.
Mr. Baafi replaces Mr. Foster Asare, who was removed after a no confidence vote by the assembly on March 29.
On hand, to swear him in was the Effiduase Magistrate, Mr. Michael Derek Ocloo.
Mr. Baafi said he was grateful to the assembly members and pledged to work with everybody to bring progress to the people in the district.
Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), applauded the peaceful conduct of the election.
She encouraged the members to continue to put the development of the area ahead of any other interest or consideration.
They should unite their effort to transform the living conditions of those, they were representing.
