Accra, Sept. 16, GNA - Mr Ras Mubarak, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, in Accra, at the weekend called on residents in the area to give him the nod to improve their standard of living.
He said he would focus on community development but would place much emphasis on the welfare of the vulnerable, including the unemployed youth and market women.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency during his campaign tour of the area, Mr Mubarak said Ablekuma North needed a visionary leader who would create opportunities for the local people to realize their potentials.
According to him, the people of Ablekuma North would enjoy the full better Ghana Agenda if he is voted as their Member of Parliament in Election 2012.
Mr Mubarak said “therefore l call for massive support to enable me to win the seat.”
He called on Ghanaians to have a change of attitude and renew their commitment by supporting the government in its efforts at developing the country.
Mr Mubarak said he had learnt a lot about the hopes and aspirations of the people of Ablekuma North since he relocated to Accra in 2003, and would accept with great humility the honour to represent them in Parliament.
According to him, he believes in social democracy - where the power of community is used to bring about opportunity, prosperity and hope to those without it.
“My struggle is about those at the bottom, the alienated, the poorest, the most disadvantaged and the exploited - the ones others forget
Ras Mubarak is motivated by the resilience and tenacity of the people of Ablekuma North despite the challenges and stress residents face with issues such as the perennial flooding, the interruptions in utility supplies and social disorder amongst others,” he said.
