Cape Coast, Feb. 20, GNA - The people of Cape Coast have commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for appointing Nana Kofi Obiri Egyir II, Sanaahen of the Oguaa Traditional Area to serve on the Council of State.
They have also congratulated Nana Egyir on his appointment and expressed the hope that his rich experience in leadership position would be brought to bear on his new role and pledged their unflinching support for him.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), some residents in the Cape Coast Metropolis and its environs prayed for God's guidance for the President and his Ministers as well as the Council of State members to implement policies that would benefit every Ghanaian.
“It did not come to us as a surprise when Nana was appointed by the President to serve on the Council of State. His contribution to the development of Cape Coast and the Central Region cannot be over-emphasised. We thank the President for acknowledging his efforts”. They said.
Mr James Biney, former Cape Coast constituency Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) described Nana Egyir as a unifier who was also ever ready to help the youth at all cost.
He was confident Nana Egyir would be able to live up to expectation considering his vast experience in the political dispensation of the country.
Nana Kofi Obiri Egyiri who is a Former National Treasurer of the Popular Front Party (PFP) is a successful businessman with many businesses in the Central Region.
The Council of State is enjoined by the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana to counsel the President in the performance of his functions.
The President on Tuesday appointed 11 persons to the Council of State but its composition was completed with the election of representatives from the various Regions last Thursday, February 16, 2017.
