The Government has condemned the reported shooting incident at the National
Democratic Congress’s (NDC)Regional Headquarters in the Ashanti Region, which
left one person dead and another seriously injured.
It has, therefore, urged the Police to expedite its investigations to bring the perpetrators of Monday’s incident to book.
Following its preliminary investigations into incident, the Police have said they are on a manhunt for Husein Barnabas, aka Warrior, Damos, Mejima and Abu Taliban, who are linked to a pro- NDC Vigilante Group, the Hawks.
A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, and signed by Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information, expressed the condolences of Government to the bereaved family and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
According to the Police, the casualties resulted from the indiscriminate shots fired by some gun wielding men on motorbikes who invaded the premises of the Regional Headquarters of the NDC during a meeting between the National and Regional Executives.
“Government reiterates that violence should be eschewed from all spheres of our national life. Citizens and groups are further encouraged to desist from actions that create a state of insecurity in our nation,” the statement said.
